Buying property in the Cotswolds

Buying property in the Cotswolds
Known as the “Heart of England”, the unique Cotswolds region is located in south-west England. It provides superb living conditions and is considered safe due to the low crime rate, making it particularly popular as a retirement area.
Well-known for its gentle, picturesque scenery and typically English sleepy villages, the Cotswolds are popular with both the English and foreign visitors from all over the world. The Cotswolds villages and ancient market towns are well preserved and most are officially protected as 'Conservation Areas’.
Property in the Cotswolds offers a great deal of appeal. House prices are relatively stable, and span a good price range for both permanent and holiday homes. Villages are remarkably pretty, attracting large numbers of tourists each year, as well as making living in the area a very enjoyable experience. A typical example is Broadway – a large Cotswold village known as the Northern Gateway to the Cotswolds. It has a population of roughly 2,500 people, and is a key destination for tourists, but does not lead to overcrowding or noise pollution as tourists only tend to arrive during the day, leaving the town in peace and quiet.
The overall charm of the region together with the delightful scenery, excellent amenities, activities and easy connections makes the Cotswolds a perfect choice for holiday property – either to rent or buy.
The continued popularity of the area ensures reliable rental income and, eventually, good resale potential. The proximity to the London market (just over an hour for London) fuels high demand and high standards. The requirement for top quality holiday homes is stable, even in difficult economic times.

Buying on managed sites such the Watermark Cotswolds gives the added bonus that the property is safe and monitored even when not occupied. Holiday rentals can be arranged through the same company along with servicing, repairs and even concierge service.
The Cotswolds region offers good facilities and services, with supermarkets and shopping facilities within 30 minutes of most locations and plenty of hotels, restaurants and cafés. Medical care and hospitals are easy to reach as are various recreational facilities, such as the glorious Cotswold Waterpark area, together with  museums and galleries. Access to major towns and cities (eg. Cirencester, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, etc.) is easy v by road and public
